ManiCakra

Trouble with digesting food? Ideas? Maybe your 3rd Cakra needs some attention. This cakra is located in the solar plexus and is often associated with guts feelings, understanding our emotions and digesting information and food. It works with our 6th cakra, ajna cakra, in helping with clarity and deep knowing or intuition.

Some connections to Manipura Cakra:

Biij (seed) sound: RAM

Color: Yellow

Element: Fire

Sense: Sight

Mudra: Rudra mudra, place index and ring fingers along with the thumb gently together. The middle fingers and pinkies stand out straight.

When manipura is blocked or unbalanced, we may feel angry, sad, jealous or fear. Some illnesses associated with are diabetes, irritable bowel, skin irritations and sickness connected to digestion such as the stomach, liver and small intestine.

When manipura is flowing, you might feel alive, energetic, strong and focused. Physically you will feel happy, balanced, and able to do what ever you set out to do.

Practice: a wonderful practice to purify and clear manipura cakra is trataka meditation. Here is a link to a previous post, which describes trataka in detail. You may also consider spending some time in the sun or sitting in front of a fire.

Asana (yoga poses) that support manipura are pascimottanasana, forward fold,  utkatasana, chair pose, navasana (boat pose) and Surya Namaskar, sun salutations.

The 3rd cakra works together with 1 and 2 to help us be ourselves in the world-balance, stability, and clarity are ours.

What we put into our minds and body affect us physically, emotionally and spiritually so pay attention to your food, media intake, technology, the people you surround yourself with, and how you spend your time. The human body was meant to move.

How are your lower cakras doing? I’d love to hear about it. Comment below.

PS-If you live in the SLC area, I will be doing cakra clearings at the Mystic Fair on February 27.
